The maestro in the Rossoneri midfield. In the semi-final first-leg clash against Inter in the Coppa Italia, Ismaël Bennacer produced an excellent display. It was one of his typical games, with the Algerian putting in a big shift and displaying intensity and quality. He was everywhere, protecting the defence and providing support in attack.
The Rossoneri No.4, who missed out on the Udinese match through suspension, made his presence felt and was also praised by Coach Pioli in his post-match interview. It’s a clear sign that his work doesn’t go unnoticed.
With Tonali absent, Bennacer took charge in midfield, showing personality and character. Over the course of the game, Isma made eleven recoveries (only Florenzi did better with 13), had 62 touches and produced 45 successful passes. He made very few mistakes, and his performance was very much worthy of the MVP award. It represents a small consolation following a match that both he and the Rossoneri deserved to win.
