Giorgio Ghezzi started his football career at Cesenatico in his hometown, and arrived at Milan in 1959, at about 29 years, in exchange for his great rival Lorenzo Buffon, who moved to Genoa. At Milan he performed even better than he did at Inter, with which he had won two league titles. Under the guidance of Rocco, he conquered another championship and in 1963 he was the first Italian goalkeeper to lift a European Champion Clubs’ Cup.
