Having triumphed at the Viareggio Tournament twice with AC Milan’s youth team, Francesco Zagatti was integrated into the first team by Lajos Czeizler in 1951. An attacking wing-back, tireless and resolute, he soon proved to be the favourite recipient of Nils Liedholm’s precise long-passes. In eleven years of loyal service to AC Milan he played 252 games, won 4 Serie A titles, a Latin Cup, and, although not included in the starting line-up, he was part of the squad that won the European Champion Clubs’ Cup in 1963.
