One of the favourites and follower of the founding member Herbert Kilpin, Marco Sala made his debut in the AC Milan jersey on 10 January 1909, during a derby won over Inter. He began as a wing, but over the years reinvented himself into a brilliant full-back, highly skilled in man-marking. Although not particularly big, he was appreciated for his aggressiveness and ability to recover the ball from the opponents and launch a counter-attack. He left the club after 11 seasons and the victory of the Federation Cup.
