Brought to Europe by Bologna who snapped him up in 1938 from Central of Montevideo, Héctor Puricelli immediately proved to be an infallible scorer. Supported by the excellent midfielder Biavati, he netted an impressive 80 goals, winning the league's golden shoe twice, and drew the attention of AC Milan who he joined in 1945. Thanks to his spectacular acrobatic skills he conquered the crowds and the young fan Silvio Berlusconi, but did not manage to win the league because of the Grande Torino. He would later have his revenge, when he became AC Milan's Coach and, with his favourite player Schiaffino on the pitch, conquered the 1954/55 league title.
