After playing five years in the Bundesliga, and a year in Austria for Salzburg, he joined Ascoli in 1991. The first Italian league seasons were not easy for Oliver Bierhoff, but following his signing for Udinese he became an extraordinary striker. After reaching a historical third place and the award of top scorer with Udinese, in 1998 the German forward moved to AC Milan. He immediately won the league title, the sixteenth for the Rossoneri that completed an incredible comeback over Lazio thanks to the 19 goals scored by Euro 1996 German matchwinner. Unforgettable was his hat-trick that sealed the league title win.
