AC MILAN 1992/93 ROSTER

SERIE A AND ITALIAN SUPER CUP

The period following the record-breaking Scudetto win was important for the transfer window. Papin, Savićević, Eranio, De Napoli, Lentini and Boban were the new faces in the summer of 1992, while Carlo Ancelotti said goodbye to playing football. The Italian Super Cup kicked off the season: at San Siro van Basten and Massaro scored in the final against Parma (2-1), sealing the fifth trophy in the Rossoneri's history. Capello's team got off to a great start in the league as well. Seven victories in the first seven matchdays put the Rossoneri at the top right from the start, and the first half of the season again ended without a loss and with several goals, including the 3-7 win over Florence, the 5-3 against Lazio and the 1-5 against Napoli. At the halfway point, therefore, the points won were 31 out of 34, thanks to fourteen wins and three draws. On matchday 24, the home defeat against Parma ended the unbeaten run in the league which had lasted for 58 matches, a record streak in Serie A. The road to the end of the Serie A season is less brilliant, but AC Milan can still celebrate: the Rossoneri are Champions of Italy once again with a day to spare. They won their 13th Scudetto, topping off a great season.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

In the Champions League, however, a perfect score accompanied the Rossoneri all the way to the final in Munich: ten victories in as many matches across the round of 32, the round of 16 and the group phase against, respectively, Olimpija Ljubljana, Slovan Bratislava, IFK Göteborg, Porto, and PSV Eindhoven. In the final act, however, an AC Milan with a number of notable absences was beaten by Marseille (1-0), in what would be the last appearance of three-time Ballon d'Or winner Marco van Basten.
