PRIMAVERA DRAW 1-1 IN LECCE

Two goals in the closing stages after a largely uneventful affair

This afternoon, the Primavera managed to add to their points tally but were held to a draw away to Lecce. Both goals arrived in the closing stages as the teams played out a 1-1 draw on matchday 32 of the Primavera 1 division. The Rossoneri, who took the lead following an own goal by Leone, the opposition goalkeeper, were pegged back a few minutes later by Helm’s finish. At the Deghi Center, it was an uneventful affair for long spells, and then came the goal and response in the final quarter of an hour.

Coach Abate’s side, who were missing a few key players, managed to respond in part to their recent league defeats and pick up an important point. The Rossoneri, who sit level with Genoa on 47 points, now trail the playoff zone by just one point and need to keep pushing. They next have the opportunity to pick up points on Sunday 12 May, when AC Milan v Frosinone will be played. Come on, boys!

MATCH REPORT
The hosts made the better start, with Samek firing narrowly over in the third minute. The Rossoneri gradually grew into the game and had their first opportunity through Bonomi, who cut inside and shot narrowly wide with his right foot after 23 minutes. In general, in what was a hard-fought affair, there wasn’t a lot of goalmouth action. That said, Camarda (37’) and Pacia (39’) both had headed efforts at goal, but neither called the two goalkeepers into action. The first half ended goalless.

AC Milan started the second half aggressively. In the 49th minute, Camarda got on the end of a Malaspina cross and fired inches off target. However, the match continued in the same manner as in the first half until the final 20 minutes. After Sala had tested Leone in the 73rd minute, the Rossoneri went in front with 77 minutes on the clock: Zeroli rose to meet a Bartesaghi free-kick, and, in attempting to punch the ball away, Leone ended up directing it onto the post and into the net. Lecce responded by going on the attack. Raveyre managed to thwart Agrimi in the 82nd minute but failed to clear the resulting corner away from danger, allowing Esposito to set up Helm for a tap-in. Fatigue overcame the two sides in the final few minutes, and it finished 1-1.
