AC Milan Women deservedly beat Juventus 4-3 in Zanica on matchday seven in Serie A, thus winning their first six-pointer of the campaign. It was a memorable afternoon for Coach Ganz’s girls, who responded brilliantly to the derby defeat and played in an aggressive fashion right from the get-go. The team took a 3-1 lead into half-time thanks to an Asllani brace and Piemonte’s finish (Bonfantini temporarily made it 2-1) and then extended their advantage just past the hour mark through Mesjasz. Therefore, a double from Girelli in the closing stages wasn’t enough to save the current Italian champions from defeat.
It represents a historic result for AC Milan Women, who got the better of Juventus for the first time in almost four years. Furthermore, the Bianconere had never conceded three first-half goals in a Serie A match before today. It was just what Coach Ganz’s side were looking for as they consolidated their position in the top five of the table. Credit should go to everyone, starting from the duo up front: Kosovare Asllani now has six goals in as many appearances for AC Milan, while Martina Piemonte, in addition to bagging her first goal of the campaign, registered two assists at the AlbinoLeffe Stadium. The Rossonere will now be looking to build on this, and they have the opportunity to do so when they face Pomigliano away from home on Saturday 29 October.

MATCH REPORT
AC Milan made a bright start, with Piemonte, Dubcová and Bergamaschi making a nuisance of themselves in the early stages. The Bianconere threatened in the 17th minute as Caruso, who had been picked out by Cantore, failed to find the target from the centre of the box. Shortly afterwards, Dubcová was unable to convert from close range (21’), but this opportunity turned out to be the prelude to the opening goal, which arrived on the 24-minute mark: Piemonte managed to lay the ball off for Asllani, who eluded her marker and fired past Aprile. Kosovare was in inspired form and bagged her second of the day less than 60 seconds later, taking advantage of Lundorf’s mistake to score with her left foot. Juventus reduced the arrears in the 31st minute through Bonfantini’s powerful right-footed strike. However, the Rossonere restored their two-goal lead moments later, with Piemonte beating the offside trap and unleashing a shot that finished below the bar and in the net.
The second half began with a couple of attempts from the Bianconere as Giuliani denied Cantore (51’) and, shortly afterwards, a chance for Caruso went begging. Then, the Rossonere struck again: Adami got on the end of a corner and found Mesjasz, who did the rest from a few yards out (62’). Nevertheless, Juventus didn’t give up and pulled one back in the 70th minute through the newly introduced Girelli (70’). AC Milan weren’t content to sit back and went on the attack: Dubcová once again made a good central run to meet the ball but was unable to get enough power behind her effort (78’). Two minutes later, Adami struck the woodwork from inside the box. The Bianconere then hit the frame of the goal themselves through Boattin moments later. The final goal of the game was scored by Girelli in stoppage time, but the Rossonere were the ones celebrating when the full-time whistle was blown: it finished 4-3.
