AC MILAN V TOTTENHAM: THE NUMBERS FROM THE GAME

A look at the numbers following the Rossoneri's first-leg win in the round of 16 of the Champions League

A prestigious, precious and deserved result. Tonight's win at San Siro is special because the Rossoneri hadn't tasted victory at the round of 16 stage of the Champions League for several years. Díaz's goal proved decisive and provides an excellent foundation to build on ahead of the second leg in London. Let's go through the numbers following AC Milan 1-0 Tottenham

1- AC Milan have won a match in the knockout stage of Champions League for the first time since 20 February 2013, when they ran out 2-0 first-leg winners over Barcelona in the round of 16.

2- The Rossoneri had last defeated an English side in the Champions League when they beat Arsenal 4-0 in the first leg of their round of 16 showdown with the Gunners in 2011/12. Five defeats followed, with AC Milan conceding at least twice each time.

3- AC Milan have won three games in a row in a single edition of the Champions League for the first time since the 2004/05 season (five successive victories back then).

4-  The Diavolo have kept a clean sheet in two consecutive games in all competitions. They've only managed to do this on one previous occasion this season, back in August (against Bologna and Sassuolo in Serie A).

5- AC Milan have scored five headed goals in the Champions League this term, a joint record (together with Napoli) in Europe's elite competition and one more than they have scored in Serie A in 2022/23 (four).

6- Brahim Díaz's (6'24'') goal is the fastest the Rossoneri have scored in a Champions League knockout match since Ronaldinho's finish against Manchester United (2'11'') in February 2010.

7- Brahim Díaz (23 anni, 195 giorni) has become the youngest scorer for AC Milan in a Champions League knockout game since Kaká in March 2004 (a brace v Deportivo de La Coruña at the age of 21 years and 336 days). Both of his goals in the Champions League have come against against English sides: away to Liverpool on 15 September 2021 and against Tottenham tonight.

8- Rafael Leão completed nine dribbles, the highest tally for an AC Milan player in a Champions League game since 2003/04.
