It was a first win in Europe this season for AC Milan who overcame Dinamo Zagreb to continue their positive run of results at San Siro, where they have come away with all three points in every outing this season. Olivier Giroud's penalty and a goal from Alexis Saelemakers gave the Rossoneri a two-goal lead but Oršić reduced the deficit to make the game wide open again. But Pogeba made it 3-1 later in the second half to seal it. Let's see some of the numbers and statistics from the game:
- Aged 35 years and 349 days, Olivier Giroud's penalty has made him the second-oldest French player to score in the UEFA Champions League, after only Laurent Blanc for Manchester United in 2002 (36y 338d).
- Alexis Saelemaekers is the first AC Milan player to score on the first two matchdays of a Champions League season since Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 2010-11. The Belgian finally found the net again after not scoring in his first six appearances in Europe's top competition.
- Tommaso Pobega is the first Italian scorer for AC Milan in the Champions League since Mario Balotelli in November 2013 against Celtic. The last goal at San Siro scored by an Italian goes back September 2011, when Antonio Cassano scored scored against Viktoria Plzen.
- Olivier Giroud has scored in a home game in Champions League for the first time since November 2016 (Arsenal-PSG). In all competitions, Olivier Giroud has scored in two consecutive appearances for AC Milan only for the second time, after last doing so last February (two braces v Inter and Lazio).
- AC Milan have won each of their five games against Dinamo Zagreb in European competitions, with an aggregate score of 13-3.
