10 FACTS ON AC MILAN v SPEZIA

The main stats ahead of the Rossoneri's 22nd fixture of the Serie A season

It's back to league action for the Rossoneri, who, unusually for them, will be involved in an early evening Monday encounter. Against Spezia, AC Milan will be aiming for their fourth consecutive league victory and a good performance to boot ahead of the big showdown against Juventus next Sunday. Ahead of kick-off, which is scheduled for 18:30 CET tomorrow, here are some facts and figures relating to the matchday 22 clash:

PREVIOUS ENCOUNTERS
1- AC Milan and Spezia have met three times in Serie A: the Rossoneri have two wins to their name compared to the Aquilotti’s one.

2- AC Milan have won their last four Serie A matches against teams from Liguria, including the three they’ve played this season. The last time the Rossoneri recorded four victories against sides from this region in a single season was in 1950/51.

STATE OF PLAY
3- AC Milan have won their last three league matches, scoring at least three goals in each of them. The Rossoneri last scored 3+ goals in more consecutive Serie A games in November 2011 (five in a row).

4- AC Milan have won ten of their eleven games against sides currently in the bottom half of the table this season. They are the team that have collected the most points against these opponents (31).

GENERAL STATS
5- AC Milan are the team that have dropped the fewest points (three) from winning positions this season, while they’re one of two sides that have scored the most goals in the final 30 minutes of play (18).

PLAYER FOCUS
6- The only time that Rafael Leão has scored 2+ goals in a league game for AC Milan was when the Rossoneri met Spezia in October 2020 – the one and only encounter between the sides at San Siro up to this point.

7- Against Spezia earlier on this season, Daniel Maldini scored for the first time in Serie A in what was his first start in the competition. Brahim Díaz’s last goal in the Italian top flight also came in that match.

8- Zlatan Ibrahimović’s next appearance will be his 150th for AC Milan in all competitions. Should the Swedish striker score, Spezia would become the 81st team he’s found the net against in the Top 5 European leagues and the 33rd side in Serie A.

9- Theo Hernández is only the third defender in the last 15 Serie A campaigns to have been involved in at least nine goals (four goals, five assists) across the first 21 matchdays.

10- The first of Junior Messias’ three Serie A braces came against Spezia. After scoring against Roma, the Brazilian could find the net in two successive home matches in the competition for the second time, after previously doing so for Crotone in December 2020.
