Tonight’s midweek clash won’t be in the Europa League but in Serie A instead: the Rossoneri are set to come up against Rolando Maran’s Genoa side on matchday 12 at 20:45 CET. Yet another match awaits for Coach Pioli’s men in what has been a very busy month. Ahead of kick-off, here are some facts and figures relating to the game between the Diavolo and the Grifone.
PREVIOUS ENCOUNTERS
1- Since the 2016/17 season, AC Milan have been involved in four Serie A matches against Genoa where they haven’t conceded. In the same period, the Rossoneri have only kept as many clean sheets against Sassuolo, Bologna and Cagliari.
STATE OF PLAY
2- AC Milan are the only team that have remained unbeaten in the Top 5 European leagues since football resumed in May (23 matches: 17 wins and six draws).
3- The last time AC Milan picked up at least 27 points from their first eleven league matches of a Serie A season was in 2005/06 (28 in that case). In general, since the start of the three-points-per-win era, this campaign marks the third time that they’ve collected so many points at this stage after previously doing so in 2005/06 and 2003/04.
4- AC Milan have won seven successive away matches in Serie A: only once have the Rossoneri picked up more consecutive victories on the road in the competition (nine, between 1992 and 1993).
5- The last time that AC Milan went unbeaten for at least 18 consecutive away fixtures in all competitions was in March 1993 (20 matches in that case).
GENERAL STATS
6- AC Milan are the only side in Serie A history to have scored at least two goals in each of their first eleven matches of a Serie A season since the round-robin format was introduced.
7- Along with Verona, AC Milan have hit the woodwork eleven times this season, more than any other side. The Rossoneri had four efforts which came off the goal frame in their last match against Parma.
PLAYER FOCUS
8- The current campaign has seen Franck Kessie already equal his goal tally from last season (four goals in 35 appearances). Against Genoa in Serie A, the Ivorian has found the net (October 2019) and provided an assist (April 2017), with both of these contributions coming at the Ferraris.
9- Theo Hernández has scored three times and provided two assists this campaign: no other defender has been involved in more goals than the Rossoneri player during the current Serie A season (five, the same as Hakimi).
COACH FOCUS
10- Total balance: six wins, five draws and six losses for Stefano Pioli as coach in 17 previous games against Genoa in Serie A.
