Serie A, matchday 12, and the Rossoneri will take the field at Cagliari's Unipol Domus on Saturday at 18:00 CET. Just hours before kick-off, Coach Fonseca held a press conference to preview the game, live on the AC Milan Official App and Milan TV.
CAGLIARI AFTER MADRID
"I think it's important to continue doing the good things we put on show, with spirit and courage. It will be key to understand that this is a different game, we need to be a different side against Cagliari and we need the right attitude. It will be a big 90 minutes, we can't mess up: we can't drop points, and it will be very important to get the win. We have always played well against big sides, we need to do so against every opponent".
THE NIGHT AT THE BERNABÉU
"Before the game, the squad knew what they were capable of showing, of how much they've grown. It was a performance that gave us confidence. Musah's position? It was a strategic choice given Real Madrid's skills and how we like to defend. If the fans like me better? It's normal, nothing has changed for me. I have to follow the path that I believe in".
RAFA'S FORM
"Leão will start, he played well in Madrid. I told him that he could do even better, it will be completely different in Cagliari with individual marking and less space than against Real Madrid. We need to keep working on our decision-making on the pitch. I have a good relationship with him, and it has always been good. He had a positive reaction and I expect it to continue".
MUSAH'S FLEXIBILITY
"The team's success is based on players like him, Yunus is very important for us. I liked him against Napoli, I asked for a different role from him, and he showed himself to be at the top level. He is always ready to make sacrifices, to help the squad. He has a lot of qualities that I like and for me, he was decisive in Madrid".
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN SERIE A AND THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
"In Europe, against sides like Real Madrid, we have the intention to carve out spaces that are there, to bet on our positional play. Against sides like Cagliari, we need different things to face individuals. It's clear the game has to be handled differently. Already in Monza, the squad brought the right attitude in a complicated match. As a Coach, I know it's difficult, very difficult, to face a side that defends man for man".
AVAILABILITY IN ATTACK
"Morata's situation is odd, he came together with Pavlović and is alright, but cannot play tomorrow. As protocol, a player with a head injury must not play for 10 days, this is non-optional. Abraham is available, he's better but not at 100%, Jović is part of the project but is still in pain and will not be with us".
FRANCESCO CAMARDA
"He will start. He's a lad who works well with us every day, who shows his skill on a daily basis. For me, players don't have an age limit, we all believe in him. For us, Morata isn't just important as a goalscorer but for his skill in breaking down opposition lines and I think that Camarda may be ready to do this too. He is very mature, he works hard for the squad. After the issue with Morata, I had no doubt about who would start the game".
