Rafael Leão has finally announced himself on the World stage. This time, it wasn't one of his unstoppable signature driving runs that made the difference, but a goal; coming on as a sub after 77 minutes, he netted just three minutes later. It was his first goal for Portugal's senior side, on his twelfth appearance in all competitions, in what is his first World Cup.
It is a goal that has broken records, too: at a World Cup, Leão is the youngest player for Portugal (23 years and 14 days) to have scored on their tournament debut, and also the fastest as a sub (two minutes and 45 seconds). His finish was expertly stroked across the keeper into the far bottom corner that made it 3-1. At the Stadium 974 in Qatar, the game ended 3-2 to Portugal against Ghana, taking Fernando Santos' side straight to the top of Group H.
