She's been in Milan for less than two months but has already made a considerable impact. Evelyn Ijeh, a Swedish striker born in 2001, joined the Rossonere at the start of February and has since settled in very quickly, adding enthusiasm and energy. Young but not without experience, Ijeh has played in practically every position during her career so far. She started off as a marauding full-back down both flanks before experiencing a spell at centre-back. She then played as a midfielder, after which she fully established herself as an attacker.
She took her first steps in the professional game at IFK Göteborg before joining BK Häcken FF, Lidköpings FK and, finally, Växjö DFF, where she displayed her best qualities prior to leaving Sweden. Her goalscoring exploits in Växjö led to a move to Mexican side Tigres Femenil UANL, an experience that only strengthened her character both on and off the pitch. Then came a prestigious call from AC Milan.
Football is a passion within Evelyn's family. Her father, Peter, a former Nigeria international, took to the pitch across Scandinavia, playing for Malmö, Göteborg, Copenhagen and Viking, while her sister, Josephine, also followed in his footsteps. Ijeh continues to make strides forward in Rossonere colours. Her debut arrived in the second half of AC Milan 2-2 Fiorentina, and she scored her first goal away to Roma in the Coppa Italia.
At the weekend, she bagged for the first time in the Italian top flight: her right-footed strike into the corner momentarily made it 3-0 to AC Milan against Pomigliano at the PUMA House of Football. Her understanding with her teammates is growing game after game and training session after training session. The second phase of the season has just begun, and Ijeh, with the number 19 on her back, wants to continue to impress in the AC Milan shirt, as she told her microphones in an exclusive interview.
