PLAYER PROFILE: MAŁGORZATA "GOSIA" MESJASZ

The words of the Polish player, ready to return after a long absence through injury

Silent leader in the centre of defence, with a big personality. Attention to detail, right down to the smallest thing in training where she is always ready to bring enthusiasm, generosity, and the spirit of self-sacrifice. An eye for a goal, which is always something special in a defender, and the ability to make an impact on dead-ball situations on both sides of the pitch. Małgorzata Mesjasz, known to all as "Gosia", is all this and much more. And after a long absence through injury, she is ready to prove herself once again.

Her first year at AC Milan was impressive, with 4 goals in 26 appearances between the league and the Coppa Italia, she continued to climb through the ranks of the Rossonere. The Polish player arrived at the PUMA House of Football after 3 years in Postdam, Germany, and didn’t waste any time integrating fully with the squad and gaining the appreciation of teammates and staff. In the starting XI from the first league game of the season, Mesjasz scored in the historic victory over Juventus in Zanica, as well as against Sassuolo, Sampdoria, and Ternana in the Coppa Italia.

She is hugely determined and alert at every moment, with a high level of physicality combined with an ability to dictate the tempo of build-up play, a skill carried through to today after starting her career in the midfield. Gosia is a player with personality, able to manage important games with high stakes. Testing the waters in recent weeks has been important and positive, with good signs from the game with the Primavera (league match against San Marino where she bagged a brace) and in the minutes she picked up in the friendly against Nice.

There is no doubt that Mesjasz’s return will be important for the rest of the Rossonere season, and there is interest in seeing how she will fit into the centre of a defence that has also welcomed Swaby and Piga as well as still housing Fusetti and Árnadóttir. In the first half of the season, the Rossonere registered the fourth-best defence in the league, only conceding more than a single goal in Serie A against table leaders Roma. Gosia is ready to be back and helping the squad and has shared her feelings about the return with an exclusive interview for Milan TV.
