A new name in the Rossoneri defence. After the early return of Matteo Gabbia from his loan spell at Villareal CF, the Rossoneri roster grows larger with the arrival of Filippo Terracciano from Hellas Verona where he was a star in the side for the last two seasons in Serie A. The 2003-born player has amazed so far in his short experience amongst professionals with his ability to adapt to different roles, and maintaining a high level of performance.
Let's retrace Filippo’s story from the beginning, it is quite straightforward. Born in Verona on 8 February 2003, he took his first steps into football with Hellas Verona. He came up through the club and was rewarded with a senior debut on 15 December 2021 (the same year as his debut in the Primavera) in the Coppa Italia game against Empoli, taking over from Rüegg in the final minutes of the match. Igor Tudor was in the dugout for the Veneto side, and from that moment onwards, Terracciano's career has been on a continuous up. His Serie A debut came on 20 March 2022, interestingly once more against Empoli, as a substitute (in place of Bessa) and this time at the Castellani. From the 2022/23 season, he became a cornerstone of the Gialloblù and it is his ability to cover multiple positions that has helped him stand out in the last year and a half: he is used at centreback, as a defensive midfielder, or as a mezzala.
And it was actually in the midfield where he began his career in the Hellas Verona youth sector. He offers good height (1.86m) and basic skills that allow him to contribute to offensive play, with crosses and runs. His journey in the youth sides was peppered with call-ups to the Italy youth squads: first the Under 18s, then the Under 19s, the Under 20s, and finally the Under 21s, with whom he made his debut in November 2022 in a friendly with Germany. With room for improvement and boundaries to be pushed, he takes a precious step in his career: AC Milan.
