MARKO LAZETIĆ: OUR FOCUS

Let's take a closer look at our new Serbian signing

He only turned 18 less than a week ago, but, thanks to his talent, many people are already willing to bet that a bright future lies in store. Marko Lazetić has become AC Milan’s first new arrival in the January transfer window. Standing at 192 cm, he’s an imposing centre-forward who, despite his young age, already has Champions League and Europa League experience.

Born in Belgrade on 22 January 2004 and the nephew of Nikola Lazetić – a former midfielder who played for Chievo, Lazio, Siena, Genoa, Livorno and Torino in Italy – Marko made his way up through the Crvena zvezda youth ranks. His debut in the UEFA Youth League came against Bayern when he was just 15 years old in September 2019.

A little more than a year later, Marko made his first-team debut, playing 14 minutes in the league against FK Rad. Then, in January, he was loaned out to Serbian second division side Grafičar. The experience was undoubtedly a positive one and saw him score four goals – including a brace against FK Radnički Sremska Mitrovica – in 14 matches, a contribution that helped his team finish in a very solid position (seventh in the table).

After this, he returned to Crvena zvezda, with Dejan Stanković wanting Lazetić to be the primary alternative to the starting duo of Pavkov and Ben in attack. This season has seen Marko make 14 league appearances, two of which were starts, and find the net against FK Kolubara on 16 October – his first goal in the Serbian SuperLiga. Having made great strides forward in terms of growth in recent seasons, he now has the chance to continue his progress playing alongside two high-quality and experienced players in Zlatan Ibrahimović and Olivier Giroud.
