In honour of Silvio Berlusconi, AC Milan and AC Monza announce the creation of the 'Trofeo Silvio Berlusconi' ('Silvio Berlusconi Trophy'), a friendly that the President's two beloved Clubs will play every year, with the first edition scheduled for 8 August.
The game will kick off at 21:00 CEST at the U-Power Stadium in Monza. In the coming seasons, the match venue will alternate between the stadiums of the two Clubs.
This initiative aims to honour and keep the memory of President Silvio Berlusconi alive. He was a figure who wrote indelible pages in both Clubs' histories.
The owner of AC Milan from 1986 to 2017 - a total of 31 years - Silvio Berlusconi won 29 trophies: eight Scudetto titles, one Coppa Italia, the Supercoppa Italiana seven times, five European Cups/Champions Leagues, two Intercontinental Cups, one FIFA Club World Cup and five European/UEFA Super Cups. It means he oversaw the most successful period in the Rossoneri's history.
Subsequently, on 28 September 2018, at his behest, the Fininvest Group acquired AC Monza, at the time a Serie C side. The Biancorossi officially returned to Serie B after a 19-year absence on 8 June 2020 and, on 29 May 2022, achieved promotion to Serie A for the very first time, going on to enjoy an extraordinary campaign in the Italian top flight. In fact, they secured their Serie A status with six games to spare and finished eleventh on 52 points, making them the best newly promoted side across the top five European divisions.
