LOFTUS-CHEEK IS THE MVP FROM CAGLIARI V AC MILAN

Ruben is the standout in midfield and scores his first goal to seal the game

You never forget your first time, especially when it's such a beauty: Ruben Loftus-Cheek scored the goal that finished off Cagliari with a well-struck and accurate right-footed finish from distance. It was the right reward for an excellent start to the season and Rossoneri life, with assists and penalties won. All that was missing was a goal, which funnily came in one the most difficult periods of the match for the visitors.

Ruben's bullet killed off the Sardinian's spirit, who at the start of the second half looked for an equaliser with urgency: it was the right move at the right time and sealed a game that had threatened to become more complicated. After starting on the bench against Verona, Loftus-Cheek came back into the starting line-up and reaffirmed all the positive feelings left around in this good start to the season.

Getting back on the scoresheet for the English midfielder is the equivalent of being set free because he hasn't scored a league goal since 22 November 2020, when wearing the shirt of Fulham, while for Chelsea his last goal was in the FA Cup in April 2022.

His performance was full of technical quality, timely runs into the box, but also of fight: eleven duels won (four as headers), three balls recovered and three fouls made. Ruben's got it - both classy and combative - and his growth is there for all to see game-on-game: he is the MVP from Cagliari v AC Milan with 45% of the vote, ahead of Okafor and Reijnders.
