José Altafini, a powerful forward with very good feet, was only twenty years old when he arrived in Milan already boasting a world champion title won with Pelè’s Brazil. Also known as "Mazzola" in his homeland, due to his resemblance to Valentino, the legendary captain of the Great Torino, in his first season with AC Milan he won the 1958/59 league title, scoring 28 goals in 32 matches. Then the 1961/62 league title win allowed the Rossoneri to take part in and conquer the following European Champion Clubs’ Cup against Eusebio’s Benfica, thanks to Brazilian forward’s brace in the final at Wembley.
