Without any controversy this time, AC Milan won their final round matches of the Italian championship against Torino and Andrea Doria and thus won the tournament for a third time. The Rossoneri were awarded the Spensley Cup a year later, in 1908. After easily eliminating U.S Milanese with a 6-0 win in the first leg and a 1-0 win in the ‘away’ leg at Comasina, the team progressed to the final phase. The Coach at the time was Daniele Angeloni, who was also fulfilling the roles of secretary and director.
A draw between Andrea Doria and Torino in said phase proved decisive for the Rossoneri’s final success. Because of that result, two draws against Torino and a win against Andrea Doria in Milan, the Rossoneri only needed to beat the latter on 7 April 1907 in order to secure the Italian title. They managed this with a 2-0 win thanks to goals from Trerè and Madler. During that season, AC Milan also won a highly coveted trophy for the sixth time: the ‘Palla Dapples’.
