    SÉRGIO CONCEIÇÃO'S PLAYING CAREER

    Sérgio Paulo Marceneiro da Conceição was born on 15 November, 1974 in Coimbra, Portugal. He began his playing career with Académica in 1985, before joining the Porto youth academy in 1991. After his time in youth football, he made his full professional debut with Penafiel, before moving to Leça and Felgueiras. In 1996, he returned to Porto and began to make his mark by winning trophies. In 1998, he moved to Italy as he joined Lazio, embarking on an important journey by winning a Scudetto, a Coppa Italia, a Supercoppa Italiana, a European Supercup and a UEFA Cup Winner's Cup. He remained in Serie A with stints at Parma and Inter before returning to Lazio in 2003, and then to Porto in 2004. Whilst playing for the Dragões, he won three league titles, one Portuguese Cup and a Portuguese Supercup. In 2004, he moved once again signing for Standard Liege in Belgium, as well as signing for Al-Qadisiya in Kuwait in 2007, and then for PAOK in Greece in 2008. He would then go on to retire as a player the following year.

    SÉRGIO CONCEIÇÃO'S CAREER AS A COACH

    Sérgio Conceição's first managerial appearance came in 2012 as he took charge of Olhanense in Portugal. He secured survival for the club, but resigned in January 2013 before taking charge of Académica, his first club as a player. Staying in Portugal, in 2014 he moved to Braga, achieving a fourth place finish in the Primeira Liga and qualification for the Europa League. In 2016, he moved to France to manage Nantes, lifting them up the table from the lower echelons to secure safety in Ligue 1. In 2017, he returned to Porto, where he quickly became a winner, and the coach with the most victories for the Dragões. Until 2024, he experienced great success both domestically and internationally, consistently competing at a high level domestically and internationally winning three league titles, four Portuguese Cups, three Portuguese Supercups and a Portuguese League Cup. In the summer of 2024, he ended his contract with Porto, and on December 30, he officially signed with AC Milan.
